This experiment was carried oat to investigate the internal radiation effect of radioactive phosphorus on the mesenteric mast cell of mice. The animals which were injected intraperitoneally with a single dose of 2.5 microcurie of radiophosphorus per. gm. body weight were sacrificed on various time intervals; 1, 6,12, 24, 48,72 and 96 hr. after injection. The removed mesenteries fixed in absolute alcohol and stained with Pugh¢¥s solution. The average number of mast cell were counted in 10 fields under 450 magnification and morphological changes of the cell were observed. The results were as follows:
1. The mesenteric mast cell number is to decrease along with lapse of time after injection, especially the lowest value at 12-24hrs and recovery within 72-96hrs.
2. It was observed that irregularities of form, distinct degranulation, decrease of stainability, vacuolation in cytoplasm in many cell accordance with course, especially at 12-24 hrs. and recovery within 48-72 hrs.
